Moilliet, John Lewis

: Jean-Louis Moilliet

A Swiss importer and exporter; a banker from Geneva.

He was co-owner of the bank that was registered in 1817 as Wooley, Moilliet and Gordon. The name was changed in 1823 to Moilliet, Smith and Pearson and again in 1835 to John Lewis Moilliet and Son, when his eldest son James became a partner. In 1840 his younger son Theodore also joined, and the bank once more altered the name to John Lewis and Sons.

Johann Conrad Fischer visited Moilliet in 1825 at his country house Smethwick Grove in Birmingham.
