Bernese airship designer, gunsmith and a pioneer of rifle cartridge technology and breech-loading shotguns.

Samuel Pauli emigrated to Paris in 1803 and later to London, where he worked together with Urs (Durs) Egg (1748–1831), the uncle of Joseph Egg.

Johann Conrad Fischer visited his workshop in Paris in 1814, but did not meet Pauli in person.
