A type of furnace for the fining of iron using the reverberatory or refining process.

The finery forge was used either to heat pig iron to welding temperture and remove the slag by means of hammering (Frischherdverfahren), or to smelt the pig iron by adding oxidants (Herdfrischverfahren). This furnace is a type of reverberatory furnace.
